PhysioLife Physiotherapist Krystie Cheong Appointed Physiotherapy Chair of 2012 BC Summer Games

PhysioLife Physiotherapist Krystie Cheong has been appointed Physiotherapy Chair of the 2012 BC Summer Games in Surrey. As head therapist for the games, Krystie is responsible for staffing clinics and venues to provide care for approximately 3,000 athletes participating in the games.

Krystie is excited for being involved with an event of this calibre, and the opportunity of providing outstanding care for the athletes.

The BC Summer Games is one of the largest multi-sport events in the province of BC, and has been occurring every other summer since 1978. The last Summer Games was held in 2010 in Langley, BC. For more information about the games, check out the BC Games website.

PhysioLife and the Surrey Eagles Renew Relationship

PhysioLife is proud to announce our clinic’s continuing relationship with the Surrey Eagles Junior A Hockey Club. This is PhysioLife’s second season as the official clinic of the team. Our goal is to help the players recover quickly from injuries and hopefully help the team capture the 2012 RBC Cup!

The Eagles have been an integral part of the South Surrey and White Rock communities for over 18 seasons. The team plays out of the South Surrey Arena, in the heart of South Surrey. For tickets, or for more information on the team, check out the Surrey Eagles website

PhysioLife Physiotherapy Clinic is pleased to announce the addition of Andrea Chen, B.H.K, MScPT, to our growing team of therapists. Andrea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia (UBC), and a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University.

Andrea has a broad range of clinical experience, and is an active member of our community: most recently volunteering her time as a head basketball coach for the BC Special Olympics. Andrea’s experiences, professionalism, personality, and strong desire to pursue post graduate education make her an ideal fit for our clinic.

PhysioLife Volunteers Services at Relay for Life in White Rock

The staff at PhysioLife Physiotherapy Clinic spent their Friday night volunteering massage therapy services at the BC Cancer’s Relay for Life in White Rock. The clinic was able to spend the evening cheering on runners and walkers, while helping to raise money for this great cause. A large number of walkers/runners received complimentary massages to keep them going throughout the night.

We were thrilled to be invited back for our second year at this event. We had a great time, and look forward to returning next year.

PhysioLife Physiotherapy Clinic is pleased to announce that Registered Massage Therapist Laura Martens has joined our team. Laura is a long time White Rock resident and received her massage therapy education at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New Westminster. When not at the clinic, Laura likes to stay active through exercising, playing sports (volleyball and softball), and helping coach sports teams in the community.

Laura’s skill level, and personable nature make her a great fit for our team.

Physiotherapist Krystie Cheong was recently accredited with her Acupuncture certificate from the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine that is widely practiced in western society by medical practitioners, such as Physiotherapists. Kyle grew up in North Delta, and obtained both his Bachelors and Master’s degrees from the University of British Columbia (UBC). Kyle is an elite level soccer player – having played at the collegiate level while attending UBC. When not working, Kyle enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his wife, Ashley.

Kyle’s personality and hands-on treatment style makes him an ideal fit for our team, and we are ecstatic to have him join us.

This is a natural fit for the clinic since therapist Larry Martin has worked with the team for 12 seasons, and Krystie Cheong for 2 seasons. With this relationship, our therapists will have the privilege to exclusively treat player injuries to get them back on the ice quicker!

PhysioLife Sponsors The Peace Arch News Rock 10K in White Rock

PhysioLife was proud to sponsor The Peace Arch News Rock 10K run on Canada Day. Hundreds of runners from across Canada descended onto the streets of the peninsula for the second annual run. In addition to providing financial support, PhysioLife offered free post-run massages to race participants at Semiahmoo Park. It was a great event to be part of, and all the runners seemed to really appreciate the post-race massages!

This event is part of Try Events’ series of local races. PhysioLife is looking forward to furthering our support of local events at the next race: the Spirit of the Sea Run on July 31 and August 1.

Proceeds from the runs benefit a number of local groups including the White Rock South Surrey Foundation, Semiahmoo Family Place, the White Rock Hospice Society, and the White Rock Player’s Club. For more information on these events, check out Try Events website

PhysioLife Supports White Rock Firefighters Charity Volleyball

Krystie and Nicole spent June 26 volunteering at Centennial Park in support of the White Rock Firefighters Charity. Teams from around the lower mainland attended this event to play recreational and competitive volleyball in support of this great local charity. PhysioLife was able to offer participants massage therapy by donation, with all proceeds being donated back to the Firefighters Charity. Being set-up by the competitive courts allowed Krystie and Nicole to watch the most exciting games and quickly help patch up any injured players.
